Surgical Approaches To Facial Skeleton

There are various reasons for exposing the facial skeleton. Treatment of different fractures, management of paranasal sinus disease, esthetic procedures, osteotomies, facial deformities and reconstructive procedures require approaches to the facial framework. The choice is usually made on the basis of the surgeon's training, experience and bias. The book doesn't advocate one approach over another, although the advantages and disadvantages of each approach will be listed. The purpose of this book is to enlighten the anatomical and technical aspects of most commonly used surgical approaches to the facial skeleton. It also enlighten about the various instruments used during incision, retraction, manipulation of the soft tissues, reduction, fixation and closure. Various approaches and their alternatives are also discussed. The approaches presented in this book will allow the surgeon complete access to the craniofacial skeleton for whatever skeletal procedure is being performed.
