Taylor ventures to the adversity zone islands of Redbank and Rockport, determined to deliver life-saving vaccines to their people. Accompanied by Ghost, the Shadowfalcon, Taylor encounters two fishermen willing to take her across the water. But before they can set sail, a submarine surfaces, and Adversity Management pirates ambush Taylor and steal her supply of vaccines.

Desperate to retrieve the stolen vaccines, Taylor plans to recruit an army from the islands to fight back. Her first stop is Redbank, a serene community led by Lunaria, a superstitious woman who leaves her people's fate to the stars. Despite Taylor's pleas, the peaceful Redbankers refuse to engage in combat.

Taylor's only hope lies with Rockport, a rugged island ruled by Jeremy, a headstrong fisherman and wildlife conservationist with little faith in her cause. Jeremy's people are battered, their vessels destroyed by PanTech, and they are no threat to the pirates. Convincing Jeremy to rally his people proves nearly impossible as time runs out. With every passing moment, more lives are lost-not just on the islands, but across other adversity zones.
