Status of Dairying and Potential to Improve Socio-Economic Condition

This book is the outcome of a detailed research study titled "Assessment of the Status of Dairying and Potential to Improve Socio-Economic Status of the Milk Producers and Convergence of all Central & State Schemes at District Level in India." The research was conducted by the Agro-Economic Research Centre at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand, Gujarat, and was commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.

The study encompasses an in-depth analysis of dairying activities across seven eastern states-Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal-and two western states-Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is based on comprehensive primary and secondary data collected from various districts, aiming to assess the existing dairy development infrastructure and its socio-economic impact on milk producers.

The book emphasizes the importance of convergence and coordination among various central and state-level schemes to maximize the effectiveness of dairy sector initiatives. It identifies key challenges and opportunities in the sector and proposes actionable recommendations to improve productivity, income levels, and the overall well-being of milk producers.
