Guided by Grace

This devotional was written during a season of deep change in our family's life. In July 2025, our dad suffered an eye stroke and lost vision in his right eye. In an instant, everything shifted. The man who once carved incredible wooden pieces with detail and passion could no longer do the thing he loved most. Watching someone so strong and talented face such a life-altering challenge was heartbreaking. And yet-through it all, his faith never wavered. As we walked through the weeks that followed, we found ourselves reflecting not only on the legacy Dad built with his hands, but the one he built with his heart. The values he lived out every day- integrity, humility, work ethic, and unwavering trust in the Lord- were the same values we had grown up with in the barn, on the show road, and around the kitchen table. So, this devotional became our way of honoring that legacy-and continuing it. Guided by Grace: A Showman's Devotional is for every kid who has ever cleaned pens at sunrise, loaded the trailer before school, or walked into the show ring with their heart racing. It is for the ones chasing banners but holding tight to their values. It is a reminder that in every part of the livestock journey, God's presence is real, and His grace is enough. We pray these pages speak to you the way this journey has spoken to us-and that you always remember: the greatest legacy you will leave does not hang on a wall.
