He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology, with additional doctoral level studies and research in Administrative Leadership. He was awarded the Governor's Beacon Award by the State of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in recognition of his outstanding service and commitment to improving the lives of young people.
