商品簡介

The Last Pilgrimage: A Storybook Apocalypse

The apocalypse is not violent, but rather horrifyingly beautiful. When the earth begins to forget its own weight, the oceans climb into the heavens, mountains drift into space, and the moon quietly abandons the planet. Amidst the panic of this collapsing universe stands Mother Ash, a gentle woman in cream-colored robes who makes no promises of salvation. Instead, she spends humanity's final hours ensuring that no one faces the end of the world alone. She gathers a community known as the Witnesses, giving them four impossibly simple responsibilities: learn someone's name, learn what they love, stay if they are afraid, and tell their story after they are gone. Believing that memory is humanity's final responsibility, Mother Ash systematically erases herself from history, handing out blank journals so her followers can record the ordinary lives, recipes, and jokes of those they comfort.

Centuries later, the world has become a shattered fairy tale of drifting continents suspended in an endless sky. In this "Floating Age," a scarred explorer named Cassian Vale navigates the impossible geography of upside-down forests and reverse waterfalls using climbing gear. Cassian is a historian obsessed with objectivity who seeks to expose Mother Ash as a fraud, wondering why every surviving culture remembers her differently. Accompanied by Archivist-9, an ancient, deteriorating AI that is slowly forgetting historical facts but learning how to feel human emotions, Cassian tracks the remnants of Mother Ash's legacy across the floating ruins.

As Cassian uncovers the scattered, weather-beaten journals of the Witnesses, his clinical detachment shatters. He realizes that Mother Ash intentionally built a legacy where nothing centered on herself, preparing comfort instead of survival. He discovers that civilizations, monuments, and planets may disappear, but the simple act of bearing witness to another life can outlast the collapse of everything else. Ultimately, Cassian abandons his role as a detached historian, picking up a blank journal to travel between the drifting islands and continue the work Mother Ash started centuries earlier.

The Last Pilgrimage is a cosmic, emotional journey about ordinary people choosing compassion over despair. It leads readers to a quiet revelation: the book they are holding is actually one of Cassian's collected histories, and by learning these names, the reader has become the latest witness in an unbroken chain stretching across the end of the world. Legacy isn't what survives; legacy is the hand you hold while nothing does.
