Using unique data (internal audit reports and access to more than 120 supply chain factories and 700 interviews in 14 countries) from several major global brands, including NIKE, HP and the International Labor Organization's Factory Improvement Programme in Vietnam, this book examines both the promise and the limitations of different approaches to actually improve working conditions, wages and working hours for the millions of workers employed in today's global supply chains. Although finite element techniques are widely used, boundary element methods (BEM) offer a powerful alternative, especially in tackling problems of three-dimensional plasticity. This 1972 monograph is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra of solid compounds, frequently used for their identification and characterization. Furthermore, the results obtained by far infrared and laser Raman spectrometers, which detect the movement of atoms and/or molecules as a whole, had no gas-phase analogy.
