The Exagoge is a drama on the theme of the Jewish Exodus, written in Greek in the form of a Greek tragedy by a Jew living in Alexandria probably at some time during the second century BC. It survives in 269 lines - not isolated verses but forming several continuous passages - enough to give the shape of the play and to reveal Ezekiel as a tragedian of significance. For the student of Jewish literary history and thought Ezekiel is a most important source, of interest for being one of the earliest examples of Jewish exegesis and paraphrase of the Bible. In the commentary he examines the fragments line by line, comparing them with the biblical account and other accounts in related Jewish sources. 'Grace books' were the volumes in which scribes recorded decisions of the administration of the University of Cambridge during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Many of the 'graces' concern the conferral of degrees on individuals, but others refer to more general University business including appointment of teachers and preachers, leaves of absence, inventories and financial records, and the resolution of disputes. The manuscript of Grace Book D covers the years from 1542 to 1589 in its first 160 pages, which are transcribed here. This edition was first published in 1910, with an introduction by John Venn, who points out that during the later sixteenth century many constitutional elements of the university took shape which persisted until the Victorian reforms. The documents in this volume constitute a valuable resource for those researching British history and institutions in the later Tudor period.

Remarkably by today's standards, although it took the best part of half a century to produce, the New Shakespeare involved only a small band of editors besides Dover Wilson himself. As the volumes took shape, many of Dover Wilson's textual methods acquired general acceptance and became an established part of later editorial practice, for example in the Arden and New Cambridge Shakespeares.
